As an alternative to and/or in combination with the anchor blocks, the pipeline may be fixed in place using restraint solutions.
These are self-anchorage systems preventing joint separation at any point on the pipeline which may be subject to thrust forces and which pass the pressure test to be carried out.
There are two main types of self-anchorage system – those with weld beads and those with metal inserts. The latter may be housed inside or outside the sealing gasket.
Each of these solutions offers performance levels subject to type testing in accordance with the EN 545 standard.
